Mallika Khatoon is 16 years old and lives with her mother, two brothers and one sister in the village of Sondanga. Her father died long ago, so her older brother provides for the family by working as a stonemason, earning Rs1,000 per month which is $26.50. Her younger brother and sister go to school in the village. She has two older brothers who also live in Sondanga with their wives and children.
3 years ago, Mallika started experiencing pain in her joints, mainly in her knees and ankles. It became so acute that she was unable to stand from a sitting position and could not walk easily. She had to drop out of school as she was unable to walk that far. |

Over the past 3 years, Mallika was taken to two allopathic doctors for consultation, one at Dhubulia and the other one at Krishnanagar. She benefitted from treatment from the doctor at the Government run District Hospital in Krishnanagar, however she had to discontinue her treatment because the doctor was transferred. Mallika’s first visit to our mobile clinic was on 16.7.08. where she was diagnosed with a kind of Arthritis in her knees and ankles, along with pain all over body, weakness, low grade fever, etc. Her medical records and test results from 12.05.07 showed that she had Pneumatic Fever.
Her treatment started on 16.7.08 with two doses of the homoeopathic medicine Rhus Tox 200. Visits on 29.7.08 and 18.8.08 visit showed a significant improvement in Mallika’s condition. She has had relief from pain and now she can walk on her own. She is very hopeful she will soon resume her studies. |
